Someone deliberately threw a milkshake at my car. Is that vandalism in California?

Some guy was having a bad day and decided to take it out on my car with his milkshake. I heard that "egging" a car is vandalism; how about other nasty food items? If I called the cops on that guy, will he be charged/fined? That sticky, greasy mess was hard to get off.
